An Oscillus Story

I heard the echoes in the void… “Anne!....ANNE!”

How they knew my name I thought Id never know. That is until of course I was woke up by my dorm mate Selia. “Anne we are gonna be late for the big maiden voyage if you don’t get your lazy butt out of bed” she said with a giggle in her voice, to which I sleepily replied, “Do we have to today? Last night was a long night”. She turned to look at me as she stood up, “Its about the project isnt it?”

I sat up, yawning and stretching, “Yea…It still freaks me out. What if something goes horribly wrong? We have no definitive proof of where these things keep ending up and now all the sudden we have the whole campus on high alert and Im sure the CIA isn’t far behind them.” I said with a little bit of hesitancy in my voice. “I just dont wanna see it all go up in flames or us with it.”

“You know you worry too much Annie, maybe you should just try some meditation or warm tea or something. Something that will loosen you up without making you get sick” she grabbed her bag and The Power Core, a device that we had been tinkering with for the project we have been working on, as she stored it in a glass container she glanced back at me and could see the visible trembling of my body, to which she sighed, “Would it make you feel better if we walked together today?”

I gave an affirmative reply and true to her word Selia waited at the door for me to get ready. As soon as I was ready we headed down to the laboratory in the Daugherty Building. In the building houses some of the most astonishing works of technology ever to be invented in 2017. It was a sight to behold to any outsider coming in but to us researchers and scientists, it was just another day in the labs. That is until now, this project we had been working on was going to change everything for the better! We just knew it!

As we entered the lab Selia and myself put on our coats gear. The project lay before us on a table. To the average person this project didnt look like much but it was the worlds first hyper quantum computer. Which, it may strike whomever reads this to know, that it didnt look much different from a regular full size tower and components. The secret of the project lies in the central processing unit though. Its a highly active component that has had the power to, almost miraculously, transport items. Where it transports them to is anyones guess. That is the answer we are currently trying to resolve though.

“Mike, Sean, Arnold…is it prepped to put this new redesign of the cooling core in?” I asked in a puzzled tone. See these three guys were about as reliable as…..well….lab monkeys. Surprisingly though they gave us the go ahead. Selia took the core out of its container and placed it carefully into the cooling block on top of the CPU. We had spent weeks prepping for this moment. Going so far as to test out several different coolants, methods of cooling, and so on. 

Mind you this is a big computer. Not like a supercomputer or anything. Just a tower with a highly sensitive core. We thought it would be a breakthrough in home computing. However, things change. See in the Cooling Core the last thing we tampered with was the coolant. We had done research into a WW2 era time machine known as The Bell and we decided the Xerum-525 might be our best choice to use for coolant. It was already teleporting things. What could it do if we added a super secret element to it?

When Arnold counted us down the tower sprung to life. Something strange was going on though. The Cooling Block was emitting this bright light blue glow.. It was pretty in a way but what came next would be anything but pretty. There is an exhaustion port on top of the cooling block that when opened would release and run off of coolant or simply work as the name suggested as an exhaustion port. When we opened the port…all hell broke loose.

A black orb the size of a quarter came out of the exhaustion port and we were so puzzled as to what it was. Without any prior warning, the fans in the case as well as the cooling block’s temperature control features maxed out in speed. The blue glow that emitted from the cooling block was now expanding throughout the room and soon it disappeared through the walls, like a ghost leaving this world. We didnt know what to make of the situation….then the pixels came.

Pixels, I do not joke about this, came from the orb and the whole room went silent. The computer, no longer powered, seemingly, was quiet. The team around me was quiet. Existence itself was….utterly quiet. Then the pixels shifted in between us and we were pierced through the skin by them. Surprising to say it did not hurt but it was a very different feeling, like a warm hug from something inside your body.

I noticed something out of the corner of my eyes, as I had been staring down at the pixel that went into my skin. Mike, Sean, Arnold, and Selia, starting from the feet and going upwards were becoming seemingly invisible and pixels shot out from their bodies rapidly. I noticed my own form leaving shape but I could still feel my body but something wasnt right and we all knew it.

This was the dawn of The First Decay. It was the complete and utter decompiling of Earth and all that surrounded it. My name is Annie May. and I helped to create the world that comprises of sonic frequencies shifting constantly oscillating and transforming the world around us. We called this new world Oscillus because of its complex use of sonic wave lengths to keep steady. 

The Soul Cell 

The Soul Cell is the name given to an Oscillator that brings one to a dimension of pure evil. A dimension so feared that most Oscillians compare it to the many different interpretations of Hell in human history. While this may confuse beings from other races or factions like the Elves of Elva Isles and the androids of Land Platform 210 X since they have no preconceived notion of a place like Hell, human inhabitants understand its infamous status. While it is possible to travel to and from this dimension with scientifically modified versions of the Soul Cell. Its not recommended for the faint of heart. The Soul Cell quite literally takes the atoms of humans and transforms them into dark matter and blasts them through Oscillian space time to the "realm beyond wanted belief". There are stories that float around that maybe the original Soul Cell was created by a cult of humans who wanted to return to Earth so badly they took the power of an Oscillator into their own hands with no prior knowledge of the technology. Other stories point to it being a deliberate malicious piece of hardware compiled on the lands of Oscillus (the country of origin varies by the story teller) to wreak havoc on those who sought to control the original Oscillator for their own selfish gain.

For Oscillation Exhibit 1.0 it should be noted that The Soul Cell was made available to anyone brave enough to venture into it through means of portal interaction.

Oscillian Space And Time Expansion

Oscillian space time is unlike any other in recorded human history. The reason for this is it follows no known path of human explanation of conventional space time. In a conventional setting it would be explained as the universe revolving around one central point in the existence of the space time continuum. With Oscillus though, things have defied the normal laws of human nature. Space and time seem to travel in a cone from the point of the main / original Oscillator which, as we all know, is located somewhere within Oscillus, we just cannot pin point where yet. As time progresses from Oscillation Exhibit 0 we are lucky to be able to observe any cosmos at all. 

You may be left wondering about the sun and moon of Oscillus. The subject matter while tricky to explain can be simply put as this. When the Oscillator sucked existence into itself it started a projection of the previous Earth's sun and moon. The AI used to train the brains of the Oscillator Converter was based on 2017 human knowledge of the universe and behavioral habits of Earth's own day and night cycle. Knowing this, the Oscillation launched a projection of the Earth sun and moon to sustain life on Oscillus. The fascinating part of all this is how it managed to produce a sun projection capable of outputting the exact heat and life contributing factors for sustainable life here on the terrestrial ground. Similar questions can be posed about the moon's life. 

**NOTES: It was noted in the original college's texts that more study was needed from the sun's properties and moon's properties to get a better explanation of what is happening out in the void of space in Oscillus.

The original 5 nations that were constructed during the original Oscillation were as follows:

The Oscillation Garden: This served as the entry point into OE0 and was regarded as a lovely collection of garden like structures built specifically for preserving and studying flora and fauna from inside of the Oscillation.

Airot-Civ: Was regarded as a nation fueled by ingenuity and steam powered cogs and gears! It was the manufacturer of weapons for a majority of common folk in the Oscillation. While the same degree of ingenuity is held high in the lands similar to it in OE1, the newer folks have evolved into a highly sophisticated mannerism of steam power.

Land Platform 210 X: The land of the androids which would later evolve into full blown robots in OE1. This land was also know for weaponry but on a much stronger level and had general hostilities towards a lot of nations. While their temper has come WAY down in the Oscillation following OE0, their drive to make useful weapons has not ceased. Before OE1 the land mass of LP210X was mainly stone and a large city in the middle. Now the inhabitants have spread into settlements they find appropriate for them in a snowy tundra. 

Hei: Hei can be compared to the nation of Soeiss in that it is a fairly forested area and based in ancient civilizations. The big, and I do mean, big difference in the two is that Hei was far less advanced in technology than Soeiss. Hei was not very hostile towards any one nation but they did protect their homes with primitive tools. Where as a modern nation like Soeiss holds true to its spiritual roots but uses more advanced technologies and weaponry.

Elva Isles: The Isles were once filled with the Elven inhabitants of the land. Never really getting into any trouble but often looking down on other races as inferior, something that didnt carry over as their descendants moved into the new Oscillation. The land was originally ice-y and a tundra that they acclimated to. It didnt take long for them to become content in their homes and generally wanted to be left alone to meditate.

Oscillus Rules:

-Purposely toxic behaviour is a bannable offense on Oscillus. While everyone has issues from time to time, we will not tolerate blatant toxicity and the rules to follow will outline this rule a little more too.

-Everyone is included in Oscillus. Every race, culture, belief, religion, etc and so on. That being said though we do not want you flaunting IRL opinions and such inside the world of Oscillus. We come to gaming to get away from real world opinions and problems. So while we accept you and your entirety IRL here, dont flaunt your IRL stuff here.

-Spam or advertising is not allowed in any shape, form, or fashion. Please understand that while we enjoy things like shopping or even playing on external servers or games as much as the next group, we dont want you to advert here on our games. Thanks for understanding. THERE WILL BE HOWEVER a place for people to put up streams, art, and so forth. PLEASE POST IN THE APPROPRIATE CHANNELS.

-Bullying, Harassment, or anything pertaining to these things will not be tolerated. You will have warnings and if you do not comply you will be punished accordingly.

-Note that Oscillus games tend to have combat ranging from hand to hand all the way up to long ranged combat. We would like notify you the player now that spawn camping or spam raiding is prohibited. We have all been in situations where we spawn and die near instantly. We do not want that here!

-We are a SFW and all ages community! While I dont mind profanity or anything like that I do not want NSFW work showing up in channels!

-If you share an account with someone you are responsible for all actions taken on that account. So if someone logs in under your name and breaks the rules your account will be punished accordingly. We have no way of knowing if it was really someone else or you. Please be mindful of your account and account access!

-PVP is open and allowed in the wilderness. It is up to claim owners wether or not PVP takes place inside of their town. Attempting to break the system in any way to perform acts of violence on otherwise peaceful towns is a crime and you will be punished for it. If the town engages you first you have the right to fire (or fight) back but only on that one citizen.

What is Oscillus?

Oscillus is going to be a sci-fi multiplatform alternate reality game in which you the player are on an expedition in a new world known as Oscillus to make a name for yourself inside of the nation of your choosing.

In the world of Oscillus we have taken it upon ourselves to inject your Oscillating Data into the world of Oscillus. For example, you the user are currently uploaded to the Oscillus Web Origin, a website that allows you to brush up on your current knowledge of what, where, when, and how things are going in this world of wonders. The overseers of all things that run the world of Oscillus have decided this would be the best way for you and others like you to get where you need to go. Currently we have active information on 2 different worlds, both of which are currently inactive but will have some degree of activation soon, make sure you reupload to the Web Origin often to see when the gates open in this catalyst! Our scientists do have a foot in the door of Oscillation Exhibit 0 right now, so it should be out sooner than you would think but PLEASE be patient with our scientists!

While Im explaining this to you however I think it important to mention that your Oscillating Data will carry over to your designated mainframe through our soon-to-launch Oscillating Data Transfer Mechanism or ODTM. The ODTM is going to be your one stop destination to launch into either Oscillation Exhibit 0 or Oscillation Exhibit 1: Quiet World. Please be patient though as our crack team of scientists are working around the clock to bring you the best data transference sequence possible. If things take a little longer than normal to get out to you dont worry too much about it! 

Airot-Civ , as it was named by the inhabitants and automatons who curiously stumbled into the deserts and badlands of the nation, is mostly known for its “steampunk” architecture. It developes weaponry some find useful and others not so much. The kings or creative constructs live here and continue traditions of weapon smithing, clock smithing, and much more.

Simply known as Atarashi, is a nation that has basis in Japanese Empire backgrounds. Among the land there are tons of intelligent beings. Some of these beings however are Whisps (see Oscillus Dictionary page), they appear to be normal people but as you approach they simply disappear. Atarashi is known for making brilliant bladed weapons though their armors are weaker than most. The population is very docile in nature, refusing wars unless absolutely necessary.

Sidus is a Latin term for The Shining Star which is what the beings who inhabit this nation believe in: looking to the stars for answers. Its not a religion its more of a map of where to go and how to do things in a respectable manner in comparison to other societal barriers. Sidus beings grew up in the alternate space of what Earth would have called “fantasy”. Think, elves, orcs, and more OH MY!

Among the nations this one is unique being the only nation be comprised of mainly robots, cyborgs, and so forth. Airot-Civ may have automatons but the highly intelligent and sentient machinery of Stelart are very wise despite being machines. This is yet another nation that produces weaponry in the form of firearms. There are also bladed weapons too. Most notable is the EMP Light Rod. A powerful weapon for a powerful race.

The POL (pronounced as Paul) as it is commonly referred to is the land in which the Oscillator continues to spit out those who have gone through decay and wound up in the new simulation that is Oscillus. The people who inhabit this land vary in every aspect of life. Some say its an honor to live in the same area that caused the Oscillation, and the others dont like it so much. Choosing to ally with this nation gives you no extra merit nor credibility its more of a vanity thing. Scientists and those curious about Oscillian lore will find themselves here. They produce the common sword in this nation, as well as other armaments that group with the sword.
